Crop trial analysis with agronomics
Precise, scientific results from field-scale research and farm trials
Agronomics is a bespoke analytic software developed by ADAS. It helps farmers scientifically test their ideas for growing better yields. It uses yield maps, satellite and drone data to determine, in very precise detail, the impact of different treatments on cereals, oilseeds, pulses, forage and field vegetables.
Agronomics is the only yield analysis system of its kind.
ADAS offers a comprehensive tramline trial service using agronomics. It is tailored to the client’s specific research question and their level of involvement. We offer full confidentiality and results dissemination if needed.
Benefits of the agronomics system
Current trial applications
We currently use agronomics software to test over 200 line trials per year. It is useful for ideas that would not be practical to test at a small plot scale, such as the impact of cultivations or cover crops. It can capture mid-season effects or when yield mapping is not available.
With individual trials, agronomics can identify yield effects as small as 0.2 tonnes per hectare. For multiple cross-site trials, significant effects may be visible at less than 0.1 tonnes per hectare.
Improved accuracy
We conduct regular updates to continuously improve the accuracy of agronomics. For farms using RTK-GPS-guided combines, agronomics can adjust for small harvest variations due to discrepancies in combine header widths. It can also account for the effect of combine wheelings. Read how it was used as part of BASF Real Results on-farm trials.
