Independent consultancy, research and training

From conception to consumption, ADAS offers consultancy services on all aspects of livestock management for farmers, levy bodies, government and private companies. Our research seeks to improve stock performance and health while ensuring consumer needs are met.

We have expertise with a wide range of livestock species, including pigs, poultry, cattle and sheep (and minor species e.g., deer).

Training and presenting

Our consultants can provide livestock health and welfare training events for experienced managers and trainees, government policymakers, inspectors and veterinarians. We undertake a wide range of stakeholder consultations and knowledge transfer activities regarding current livestock issues. This includes organising, facilitating and speaking at meetings and focus groups, providing information to farmers and policymakers.

Our livestock consultants also work outside of the UK, in the EU and further afield, delivering short-term livestock related consultancy projects and contributing to research work.

Benchmarking and farm trials

Our experienced team of livestock consultants conduct a range of animal health benchmarking, typically based on groups using a focus-farm approach. We also help establish and monitor key welfare indicators for different livestock sectors. These activities can be used as a basis for advising on farm changes and improvements.

Our consultants can help clients to design and monitor their own farm trials. However, we also have internal research facility that we use to undertake more detailed studies for clients.
