Our ecologists provide Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) services for infrastructure (rail and highways), utilities, renewable and residential sectors. We have teams based all across England and Wales.

The goal of an ECoW is to ensure construction is carried out in line with wildlife law and planning consent commitments. We work closely with on-site teams and project managers to ensure works are completed in a cost-effective, timely and safe way.

Our range of Ecological Clerk of Work services

Our ECoWs are done by experienced, CIEEM accredited ecologists. We have an excellent working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and understand construction. Our advice is always site-specific and practical to reduce any risks or delays.

We can provide any or all of the following services:

  • preparation of pre-construction documentation
  • delivery of toolbox talks
  • Pre-construction and construction phase protected species and habitat surveys
  • guidance on protected species, ecological features, and mitigation
  • attendance at and input into site meetings as required
  • Regular record keeping and production of reports as required

Health and Safety

We adhere to project method statements and follow strict health and safety protocols while on site. We are Constructionline Gold members and have achieved SMAS Worksafe accreditation.

Our expertise

For complex projects, we can call on the expertise of ADAS staff from other disciplines i.e. planners, scientists, and engineers.

Our experience working on construction sites across the country means we can confidently and clearly communicate on-site instructions to busy construction teams.
